PHS welcomes new campus supervisor Michael Bell

Michael Bell is the new attendance clerk and campus supervisor at PHS.

“I started working here during the second week of October,” Bell said.

Before PHS, Bell worked at Havens Elementary School as a substitute custodian. He learned about the open position through his wife, who works for the Piedmont Police Department.

“It’s been awesome so far. The kids here are really great,” said Bell.

Bell has always wanted to be a counselor for students and through his new position, he is able to provide students with a form of guidance.

“I’m here to make sure that all the students are safe,” said Bell.

Bell provides security on campus and monitors students to make sure they behave appropriately and stay safe.

During brunch and lunch, Bell walks around campus to oversee the students. During class, Bell is in the main office working with other attendance and campus supervisor, LaTayna Lloyd.

“It’s been great, working with LaTanya,” said Bell.

Bell said he enjoys working in the office and admires Lloyd’s relationship with the students. He likes that she is able to provide the students with structure.

“Mike is a very respectable person. He is willing to learn and get to know the students and the campus,” said Lloyd.

Bell has been working to familiarize himself with the campus and hopes to be able to learn the names of all the students quickly.

Lloyd has been working with Bell to manage student attendance, including running detentions and organizing sports release forms.

“It’s been fun to work with Mike in the office,” said office TA Ethan Kwan. “We make jokes and always have a good time.”

Kwan TAs in the main office during third period. He enjoys spending time with Bell and Lloyd and getting to know them better.

“Being here definitely brings me back to when I was in high school and it’s been a great learning experience,” said Bell.
