Thompson sings his way into hearts

Sophomore Marcello Thompson expresses his feelings for girls by writing and singing love songs to them.

Thompson wrote his first love song in eighth grade when he had a crush on a girl but was too afraid to say it to her. Instead, he put it in a song.

“The first song and girl I ever wrote and sang to was, I Love You to Alana Susbilla,” Thompson said. “She was surprised since she had no idea it was for her, but she blushed a lot after the song was over.”

After writing each love song, Thompson shares them with his friends in order to get feedback and improve the song. It typically takes Thompson about five to ten minutes to write a song.

“I usually decide who to write and sing to when I feel like, and I quote, ‘she’s the one’, so I write a song about her personality,” Thompson said.

He said that he has the confidence to sing to girls because his friends are so supportive of it.

“When I sing to girls, they laugh at first because I can’t really sing, but then they start to blush a little bit,” Thompson said. “I react to haters with a lot of grief but I don’t care about them”.

Thompson hopes that in the future, his songs will be published and they will help him find the right girl who will love him for who he really is.

“I have problems with writing lyrics so I ask you guys to help me with lyrics so I can write good songs,” Thompson said.

Not only does Thompson write love songs, but sometimes he also performs them for the girl to whom it is written for.

“I want the right girl to be honest with me when she hears me sing to her,” Thompson said.
