The Piedmont High School Acapella choir held their Winter Concert on December 17 at the Cathedral of Christ the Light, and was led by music director Joseph Piazza. The choir, which was joined by the Middle School’s Rockappella choir, performed a collection of traditional choral songs, and ended the night with the classical Christmas song, Carol of the Bells.

“I enjoyed performing in the cathedral” Chamber Choir member, senior Robbia Diaz said. “In addition to the fact that it is a beautiful structure, it was amazing to hear our songs echo as we finished them.”

Diaz who said his favorite song was “Oh, What a Beautiful City” because of its upbeat and jazzy vibe, also  enjoyed all the preparation leading up to the concert.

Advanced Choir member, Mia Arthur encourages everyone join the fun and  come see the concerts because of the opportunity to see friends perform, and to enjoy the music.

“My favorite part is just being able to sing with my friends and even when we mess up, we just laugh it off.” Arthur said.

According to Diaz however, he enjoys the concerts because of the strength that comes from the choirs joining together.image (2)

My favorite thing about the performances would be being able to work with the other section of chamber choir.” Diaz said, “Both classes have certain songs that they’re better at and others that they might struggle with, but when we all work together we can make them all sound amazing.”

Arthur attributes Music Director, Joseph Piazza to the inclusive and light nature of the concerts.

“He just always knows how to make us laugh even if we’re singing terribly,” Arthur said, “has taught me so much.”
