DSC_0002We did it. Congratulations class of 2014. We are officially second semester seniors.

After we graduate and look back on our senior year we should remember all of the good things that we have done.

How many other schools have an awesome rapper named Duraacell who kills it at our rallies or a Gabe Bolio who brightens your day or a Wes Dunlap whose acting is beyond compare or a singer whose voice is so sweet to the ear like Madeline Turner or someone who only makes food their Snapchat story like Michael Tam? Second semester is the the last time to be with these people and enjoy high school .

In order to have a fun and successful last few moments of high school, go to as many school events as you possibly can, especially the ones you have not been to before.

There are only so many more concerts, dances, plays, sporting events and Days on the Green. By attending these events we will remember our fellow classmates for their accomplishments.

Since the homework load has lessened and most of us will not attend the same school as our friends, have random late night adventures.

A simple drive to Fenton’s for a tasty treat with some friends is a great simple way to spend time with friends.

We all have friends in the grades below us so hang out with them as much as you can. Soon we will graduate and focus on college and they will be busy with high school so our time with them is limited.

Although the stress level has gone down, being second semester seniors comes with some responsibility. As we approach the end of the school year we should keep in mind a few things.

Do not brag about all the schools you have gotten accepted to. Remember that your classmates might have not gotten in to one of the schools you consider to be a safety.

If you get accepted to a school and you know for certain you will not attend in the Fall decline your acceptance as soon as you can. This way people on wait lists can find out if they are accepted sooner.

Sparknotes will not cut it. We may be second semester seniors but we still need to try hard in our classes because these grades still count and quote quizzes are difficult when you do not read.

Class of 2014 I encourage you to go and live it up with your classmates before we graduate in June.

We will all come down with Senioritis at some point and there is an occasional need for a mental health day but we should not have your parent’s sign us out of all our classes. It is not fair to our teachers, classmates or friends.

Second semester is a time for new experiences and a time for reflection. Let’s have a senior year to remember 2014.
