The Board of Education approved pass/fail grading for second semester.
A passing grade requires that students complete 70 percent of assignments at a proficient level.
5:49 p.m.// March 30, 2020
Senior prom, originally scheduled for April 25, has been canceled.
The senior Celebration Picnic on May 17 and graduation and grad night on May 29 will continue as planned.
2:45 p.m.// March 25, 2020
Alameda County is one of six Bay Area counties that is extending school closures until May 1 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to the SF Gate.
The earliest schools will reopen is Monday, May 4.
The counties will continue to make decisions and announcements about further extensions if necessary.
7:33 p.m.// March 21, 2020
PHS will continue online learning until April 7. Teachers are expected to assign three to four hours of school work per week for each of their classes, according to an email from principal Adam Littlefield.
9:27 p.m. // March 19, 2020
Superintendent Randy Booker extended the school closure through April 7 in order to comply with county and state recommendations for a shelter-in-place order.
In addition, the Board of Education granted Booker the authority to extend the closure without convening the Board.

All CAASPP testing has been canceled across the state for this year, according to an email from superintendent Randy Booker.
10:21 a.m. // March 17, 2020
The April 4 ACT has been rescheduled to June 13. Students will be able to reschedule for free, according to the ACT.
The makeup March 28 SAT and the May 2 SAT were canceled and will be refunded. The next available date to test is June 6, according to the College Board.
1:29 p.m. // March 16, 2020
Six Bay Area counties, including Alameda County, will be placed under a shelter-in-place order by public health officials in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, according to the Alameda County Public Health Department.
The shelter-in-place order will begin March 17 and last until April 7.
6:06 p.m. // March 13, 2020
The Board of Education voted to dismiss all PUSD schools and all related school events from March 16 to March 27 at their emergency meeting today.
10:25 p.m. // March 12, 2020
The Piedmont Community Church’s Mexico trip has been postponed until June of 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to an email from Reverend Scott Kail.
In addition, all Mexico meetings will be canceled through the end of April.
