Dear Reader,
Talking to my brother (a freshman) and his friends, it became evidently clear that they knew nothing about classes they were supposed to take next year. This feeling was reciprocated among other students in our school. They are not alone in this, every year I have had conversations with my peers questioning which course to take, the benefits that come with it, and how much work it will truly be.
Recently we have put out a course selection guide for the 2024 school year to answer those questions. We cover topics ranging from homework and study hours per class to pressures students face in choosing classes. We developed an online tool to help students calculate their schedule for the 2024-25 school year while also allowing them to have appropriate time outside of academics.
However, our lives go beyond academics. We have started publishing a ‘personality profile’ (feature story) every week on different students at PHS and MHS. We focus on the students talents, passions, achievements, hobbies, and their life outside of school. These profiles cover a wide range of topics such ranging from Tik Tok to basketball.
Going with the theme of learning about our peers, we have started putting out a weekly staff playlist and would love to have a reader submit their own. We are always looking for new ways to engage with our audience and have developed a ‘This or That’ pin poll on our bulletin board and a feedback box.
We continued our coverage of lunch time clubs and included college football opinion pieces.
We hope to hear from you in any way possible and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to dbanin@tphnews.com
Sincerely,
Daniel Banin
