With the winter sports season starting up, volunteers are needed for upcoming games. Piedmont Athletic Director Tyler Small releases weekly sign-ups for volunteers to register to work at the games. The sports eligible for sign-ups are JV and varsity basketball and soccer. There are up to two slots available per event, and some only one. Volunteer jobs available include ticket collectors, snack helpers, varsity announcers, and running the scoreboard.
Small said he wants to expand to include more people and not limit opportunities to just those options.
“If people are thinking, ‘Hey I’d love to do this at a game,’ I’d love to see those ideas. I know we’ve had several people sing the national anthem, we had one person play a Jimi-Hendrix-style national anthem at one of the football games. We are trying to find ways to get everyone involved that wants to be involved,” Small said.
Small said there are benefits to volunteering for the games.
“Volunteers do receive service hours, as well as Chick-fil-A Lunch the next day,” Small said.
Each week, Small emails a Sign-up Genius directly to all students and tries to get the link into the weekly athletic newsletter.
