On Friday March 22, the baseball team hosted the Bishop O’Dowd Dragons, resulting in a 14-1 loss.
Going into the 3rd inning, the Highlanders kept the Dragons to only a single run, however things began to fall apart, thereafter. O’Dowd racked up eight runs off of five Highlander errors in the top of the 3rd inning, and continued the beating in the four innings to follow. PHS did manage to score in the third inning, with sophomore Tristan Gardner scoring a run off of senior Cooper Wetherbee’s RBI.
“There was a tense vibe that hung with us most of the game which led to a lot of errors,” left fielder senior Milo Davis said. “We just have to relax more.”
With the loss, the Highlanders fell to 3-5 for the season. Their next game will be on Friday, March 29, against the Berkeley High Yellowjackets, who hold a record of 5-4.
“We will get a good week of practice, focus on the little mental things, and keep everyone healthy for Friday’s game,” shortstop senior Evans Hauser said, coming off a lower back pull injury.
