Toes pointed, smiles on, the dancing class performed their last student choreography showcase on Thursday May 23. The show began at 6 pm and lasted an hour.
The dances ranged from lyrical to hip hop, to an eclectic collection of songs, ranging from MC Hammer to Justin Bieber. This was also the last time the Breakerz performed for the school.
Senior Brandon Wong said he is really going to miss dance and everyone in the class.
“The last four years in dance have been so much fun,” he said, “I’ve learned and grown a lot from being a member of the dance community.”
Seniors Sofia Lavdiotis, Kristi Nguyen, and Lizzie Goetz and junior Katie Milne emceed the show. They added a comedic quality in between the dances, often out of breath, having just performed.
Senior Hayley Parry said she enjoyed the showcase a lot more than dance teacher Amy Moorhead’s dance concert because it’s a lot less stressful.
“I like the showcase because it demonstrates all the last-minute bursts of creativity from the dancers,” she said. “We’re all able to relax more and enjoy the end of the year.”
Contrastingly, junior Katie Milne said that while the showcase is really fun, it is still very stressful.
“We usually have two and a half weeks after the dance concert to work on it which is hardly any time at all,” Milne said, “So most of the time we end up learning dances the week of and even day of, which is kinda stressful, but usually works out.”
