Student directed spring plays begin May 16

The acting III-IV class will put on two collections of student directed plays on May 16 through May 19. People Like Us: Three One Act Plays about Relationships will be Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17, and Charlie Brown and Grimm: Two One Acts for the Whole Family will be Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. The plays start at 7:00pm each night.

Junior Julia Sweeney will be directing and acting in a play in the People Like Us; Three One Act Plays about Relationships.

“[In] the May play we have a lot more freedom and a lot more control so lots of students are directing, acting, and stage managing.”

Sweeney said that People Like Us is a mash-up of mini fairy tales and a mini musical, while Charlie Brown and Grimm is a collection of short funny and dramatic plays about relationships.

“My play is really bizarre and weird,” Sweeney said. “You should really see both nights. They’ll both be really amazing in their own ways.”

Junior Zane Haney will be in the mini musical part of the play called “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, directed by senior Elizabeth Fetterolf.

“I think the audience is going to find it very entertaining,” Haney said. “It is applicable for all ages. It is a funny play. It is student choreographed and it is going to be great.”

Junior Alec Sieben is in the comedic play Nothing Happens.

“It is super hilarious,” Sieben. “I like how students direct it. It is hysterical so [the audience] will be laughing.”

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students.
