Piedmont High School is re-allocating the Wellness Center resources to MHS and PMS because of more available space and an increase in needs from the students.
A new space for the Wellness Center was found at PMS, making interns more available.
“With the new room students are able to have lunch-time groups and individual counseling,” Hsu said.
The counselors’ office at MHS no longer has to be given up because a room has become available on Mondays where the intern, Tracey Brown, can work with students privately. For the past two years an intern therapist has been at MHS but would always have to use the counselors’ office, Hsu said.
“Now there can be two private conversations with the counselor and intern going on at the same time, which will better serve the students,” Hsu said.
MHS senior Julia Goodacre said that a lot of focus gets put on PHS students because it is the main high school so people tend to forget about MHS.
“It is important that the Wellness Center is more available so we can all use it,” Goodacre said.
