MHS fundraiser set for May 3

The Millenium High School annual fundraiser will transport participants back to the 50’s on May 3rd at the Piedmont Center for the Arts.

The fundraiser, put together by the Parent’s club, is a main source of the funding that MHS needs in order to go on the Camp Augusta trip and a large portion of the money that ASB needs as well.

This year, the event is 1950’s diner themed.

“The fundraiser is an important event that allows us to go to Camp Augusta and gives our ASB enough money to do other things for our student body,” junior Ben Serleth said. “It’s been successful in the past, and we expect the same for this year.”

The goal of the fundraiser is to accumulate about $14,000, which will be split between the Parent’s Club and the Millenium ASB, Serleth said.

Another goal for the event is to recreate the atmosphere and vibe of an actual 1950s style diner through music, decorations, and food.

“We are planning on serving sliders and maybe grilled cheese sandwiches, with side dishes that are still in the works,” Millenium ASB president Jonathan Dietrich said. “We are still narrowing down our desserts as we have many great ideas for that.”

Dietrich works as a liaison between the various companies that are involved with the fundraiser and the members of ASB. He helps guide his fellow students by giving them tasks to complete in order to provide the best fundraiser experience.

“It’s rewarding to put in so much effort for the fundraiser because we can use the money to give right back to the students,” Dietrich said. “While mainly used for the Camp Augusta trip, the extra money earned allows events such as our Halloween party and Fun in the Sun Day to happen.”
