Zumba brings Latin spice to Spanish 3

Zumba+brings+Latin+spice+to+Spanish+3

Blasting music in the gym and bringing Latin spice into the class, Spanish students participated in a Zumba class on May 13.

Senior Allyson Chan, a Spanish 3 student, said that her favorite part was the instructor’s enthusiasm, encouraging everyone to dance and interacting with them.

Eduardo Vargas, Zumba teacher at Just Dance Ballroom in Oakland and boot camp trainer in Alameda, danced in front of Spanish teacher Joanne Guillén Donohoe’s classes and instructed them to follow.

Spanish student senior Wes Dunlap said that from the start of class, Vargas had them immediately dive into the dancing.

“My favorite part was watching [Señora Guillén Donohoe] Soulja Boy, which I didn’t think I would see in my entire life,” Dunlap said.

Sophomore Grace Sanford said that the Soulja Boy dance was the hardest part of the class.

“My favorite part was just hanging out with my classmates,” Sanford said.

Vargas will be back on campus on May 29 to teach more language classes how to Zumba.
