A community workshop regarding the Moraga Canyon Specific Plan was held on Friday, Dec. 1 at the Veterans hall. According to a presentation at the event, the Moraga Canyon Specific Plan is a detailed, action-oriented plan meant to build 132 new housing units, 60 affordable apartments, 70 market rate apartments, and two single family homes. The 130 apartments will be spread over four different buildings that will be four or five stories tall.
The Moraga Canyon area covers Coaches Field, the corporation yard, the Piedmont Skatepark, Blair Park and the surrounding hills, and undeveloped areas within the borders of Piedmont.
Four different plans were presented at the event, with one main plan and three alternative
plans.
The main plan placed all four of the apartment buildings in Blair Park, leaving the recreation area and corporate park unchanged.
