On Feb. 4, nineteen exchange students from just outside of Barcelona arrived in Piedmont for the first time. They will be stayingwith their exchange partners in Piedmont until Feb. 15.
Spanish teacher Deysi Sahagon said that the exchange students will also be attending PHS with their exchange partners for the duration of their stay.
“They’re gonna be coming to school for classes, following their exchange partners from Piedmont,” Sahagon said. “They want to experience the culture and practice their English.”
In order to determine the partnerships, Sahagon said that every student involved in the exchange program is surveyed about themselves.
“We ask them to fill out a survey about their likes, their dislikes, everything about them,” Sahagon said. “We tried to do our best to find their perfect fit.”
In April, Piedmont students will reunite with their exchange partners in Spain.
“They will go during spring break for 12 days,” Sahagon said. “They will experience the culture as well.”
